As a seasoned mom, you probably have plenty of baby gear left over from your first (or most recent) pregnancy. But when it comes to preparing for a new baby, there are some items you'll probably need to double up on, and others you'll want to replace.
So what should you add to your baby registry as a second-time mom? If you're about to have two or more kids close in age, we've listed a handful of helpful products you may want to consider below! What You'll Need Two Of Dresser: With two or more kids, you'll likely want extra storage space for all those cute, tiny clothes. Camera for Monitor: If you need to keep an eye on both kids, a second camera for your baby monitor will be essential. Crib/Mattress + Sheets/Mattress Cover: If your firstborn won't be ready to transition out of the crib once your new little has outgrown their bassinet, you'll probably need another crib setup! Here's the crib we bought for baby #2! Blackout Curtains: A bedtime essential for all ages. Sound Machine: See above! Diaper Pail: With two littles in diapers, you'll be thankful for a second diaper pail in a different area of the house. We keep one downstairs and one upstairs. Changing Pad: Same as above. If you foresee your toddler staying in diapers a while longer, having a second changing pad will be a lifesaver. Or consider switching your toddler to Pull Ups and attempting standing diaper changes. High Chair: Your kids probably need to be really close in age to justify two high chairs – you can also consider switching your toddler to a booster seat! Car Seat: This one is probably hard to forget, but make sure you have an appropriate car seat for each child's age and size. Car Mirror: You may want to grab a second car mirror! Unless you'd rather not see what chaos your toddler is causing back there – it's not like we can reach anyways, lol. What Needs Replacing for Round Two Bottles and Nipples: Anything rubber/silicone should be replaced regularly for safety and hygiene. Pacifiers: Same as above! Second Insurance Breast Pump: If your insurance covers it, having a spare breast pump can be a game-changer. If you don't have one already, consider getting a portable pump for on-the-go! Replace Old Pump Parts: Check and replace worn-out or damaged pump parts as needed. Milk Storage Bags: Don't forget to stock up on new milk storage bags if you plan on pumping. Bibs/Burp Cloths: These also tend to get pretty gross over time, so it's a good time to refresh your stash. Managing Two or More Young Kids Double Stroller: A double stroller or jogger will likely make outings slightly more manageable, so you can keep both kids safe and contained. Baby Carrier/Wrap: For much-needed hands-free moments, invest in a comfortable baby carrier or wrap. This will give you the freedom to tend to your needy toddler while keeping your baby close. YouTube Premium Subscription: Just kidding, but not really. Playing ads-free Ms. Rachel and Blippi for your toddler will be a game changer for those days when you just need a moment. Remember, every situation is unique! Your needs are going vary depending on how far apart your kids are, what you already have, what you actually use, etc. Having kids close in age can be challenging, but you're a pro now, mama! You've got this! xo, Jess Comments are closed.
